Technology is a tool, not a platform plank. Most of what a city needs isn't novel software — it's the boring, reliable version of things that already exist: searchable records, working systems, and data that gets used to make decisions.

Where I stand

I build software for a living, which is exactly why I'm cautious about it in government. I'm interested in a small number of durable, low-cost improvements that residents actually feel, and skeptical of expensive systems that mostly produce dashboards.

What I'd focus on

Fix what residents touch: permits, records, service requests
Buy or build small, prove value, then expand
Open data by default, in usable formats
Never let a technology project substitute for a policy decision
