Vertical Gardens in Vacant Storefronts
Turn dark windows into living, productive space while the block recovers.
A pilot concept to install self-contained vertical growing systems inside long-vacant ground-floor retail spaces — visible from the sidewalk, producing food or plants, and fully removable the day a permanent tenant signs.
Recurring Open Street Markets
Low-cost programming that gives residents a reason to show up every week.
Expand recurring, low-overhead market and vendor programming into underused streets and plazas — with a permitting path simple enough that a first-time vendor can actually use it.
Recovery-Informed Crisis Response
The right responder for the right call, with outcomes published.
Strengthen a dedicated response capability for appropriate nonviolent behavioral-health and substance-use calls, staffed in part by people with lived recovery experience, coordinated with police and fire rather than separate from them.

Make what the city already publishes actually readable.
A searchable, plain-language index of city agendas, budgets, contracts, and service outcomes — built cheaply on data the city already produces.
Airport Land: A Public Planning Process
227 acres deserve a process residents can actually follow.
An approach to the airport transition centered on substantial public open space, with every option, cost and tradeoff documented in plain language before decisions are locked in.
Underused Space Activation
An inventory of what's empty, and a fast path to putting something in it.
Maintain a public inventory of vacant storefronts, unused city property and dead public space, paired with a short-term activation permit that lets community and small-business uses move in quickly.
